Wedgwood Festive Fluted Ornament – White Fine Bone China

The Wedgwood fluted ornament is an all-white bauble that lets texture do the work. Vertical flutes run from top to bottom, a woven band circles the middle, and the matte white fine bone china catches soft shadows from the tree lights. It hangs from a deep red ribbon and arrives new in a Wedgwood gift box.

Inspired by Wedgwood's Engine-Turned Vases

Wedgwood based the fluting on engine turning, the lathe technique Josiah Wedgwood used in the 18th century to cut precise grooves into his pottery. The rounded profile is taken from the Wedgwood black basalt flared vase, so the ornament carries a real piece of the factory's design history onto the tree.

Styling the Wedgwood Fluted Ornament

Because it has no colour pattern, the Wedgwood fluted ornament sits well on white, silver or natural-wood themed trees, and it also balances busier baubles when mixed in. Hang several on a bare branch for a simple table centrepiece, or give one as a gift for a new home.

For a pattern in silver on white, see the Wedgwood Silver Tonquin No.2 ornament.

Red Christmas colour comes from its sister piece, the Festive Red Splendour hanging ornament.
