Issued by The Perth Mint to mark the 150th anniversary of the Burke & Wills 
expedition, this 1oz silver proof coin is dated 2009 on the obverse and 
portrays a representation of an exhausted and bedraggled Burke and Wills, 
with coloured elements depicting a camel and a stylised tree in fading 
sunlight. The coin is inscribed "BURKE & WILLS 150 YEAR ANNIVERSARY" and 
"VICTORIAN EXPLORING EXPEDITION 1860."

Robert O'Hara Burke and William John Wills were the first European settlers to cross the Australian continent from south to north a journey of roughly 2,800 kilometres that ended in tragedy when both men died on the return leg.

Limited to a mintage of just 7,500 coins, each coin comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity and a presentation case.
