The coin's reverse features a coloured depiction of the lunar module descending toward a coloured image of Earth, paired with the iconic inscription "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon July 1969 AD. We came in peace for all mankind." 

The obverse carries the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II alongside the 2009 date and $1 denomination.
