Issued by the Perth Mint to mark the Centenary of Federation, this two-coin silver proof set revives one of Australia's most historic monetary designs the Holey Dollar and Dump, first created in 1813 when a Spanish dollar was punched through to create two coins from one, easing a chronic coin shortage in the colony.

The larger Holey Dollar coin depicts the official badges of each Australian state and the Northern Territory, arranged around the star-shaped central void, with the Perth Mint's traditional "P" mintmark and the dates 1901–2001 worked into the design. The smaller Dump coin the star-shaped centre piece - features an intricate depiction of Australia's Federal Parliament House in Canberra. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of both coins, both designed by Dr Stuart Devlin AO CMG and struck in 99.9% fine silver.

No more than 30,000 sets were issued by the Perth Mint, and each set is individually numbered - this example is set No. 12593.
